Great news movie fans – HOPELESS ROMANTIC is now available for your home viewing pleasure via AppleTV, iTunes and Vimeo on-demand.
The romantic comedy HOPELESS ROMANTIC was filmed in Halifax, NS back in October 2017 and is told from the point of view of six female East Coast directors, the film questions the Hollywood idea that there is “The One” out there for all of us.
Classified as an anthology feature film – HOPELESS ROMANTIC focuses on 50-something Anna, as she helps six different women navigate through relationships across an epic landscape of partners, emotions, risks and payoffs only to learn that, like most adventures, it’s absolutely not about the destination.
Nova Scotia-based writers/directors are Megan Wennberg (First Weekend) and Stephanie Clattenburg (Play Your Gender). Newfoundland directors are Deanne Foley (An Audience of Chairs), Ruth Lawrence (Little Orphans), Martine Blue (Hunting Pignut), and Latonia Hartery (Sadie). Also writing is Emily Bridger (Little Orphans) in St. John’s, as well as Iain MacLeod and Jay Dahl of Halifax. Margaret Atwood (The Handmaid’s Tale) was involved as a creative consultant.
“We are excited to work with this talented group of individuals, who have such strong artistic voices,” said producer Bill Niven, “And we’re pleased to be part of a team that furthers the careers of Atlantic female filmmakers.”
Other creatives include cinematographer Jeff Wheaton (Black Cop); production designer Michael Pierson (Trailer Park Boys); costume designer Bethanna Briffett; and hair and makeup artist Victoria Bouchard.
The project is a Nova Scotia/Newfoundland co-production. Financing comes from Telefilm Canada, the NS Film & Television Production Incentive Fund and the NL Film Development Corporation. Producers are NS-based Bill Niven (The Book Of Negroes); Jay Dahl (Halloween Party) , NL-based Latonia Hartery (Crocuses).
