It’s one of those songs that make you stop in your tracks. “Wise Woman” is the perfect combination of impactful lyrics and stirring music, and once you add in the heartfelt delivery and layered harmonies of NL’s Mallory Johnson together with Twin Kennedy (sisters Carli and Julie) – well then my friends – you’ve got yourself what we call in the business – radio gold.
More importantly “Wise Woman” delivers timely advice during International Women’s Month and more than that – timeless advice for generations.
“If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn’t stand there in that line, I’d be standing out”
That’s just one of the many sage declarations made in the song that was originally crafted back in 2018 – when the three Nashville-based ladies – who are also dear friends got together for a songwriter’s session. It began with Carli Kennedy playing the first verse which she’d been working on, followed by an evening of sharing stories (and a glass of wine or two). Stories were told, life lessons were shared and “Wise Woman” was on its way.
The single, delivered to radio a few weeks back, now has a supporting video featuring more than 50 women and girls from all over North America – including lots of family members. You can see Mallory’s beautiful mom – an entertainer in her own right Loretta Johnson at the top of the video and again at 3:26. Carli and Julie’s sweet mama can be spotted smiling proudly at 3:02.
The moving song has also inspired a FREE Virtual Wise Woman – The Show that will air on March 26th at 7pm ET. Presented by The Consulate General of Canada to the Southeast United States and filmed at the gorgeous Analog at Hutton Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.
With opening remarks by Kirsten Hillman, Canada’s Ambassador to the United States, the evening of stories and songs features Tenille Arts, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Madeline Merlo, Crystal Shawanda, Victoria Banks, Molly Brown and your hosts for the concert Mallory Johnson and Twin Kennedy.
