What a joy it has been to watch today’s guest perform over the years that have passed since our first sit-down chat during Canadian Country Music Week back in 2017. Between her skillful songwriting, her live shows and her amazing music videos – it’s been a steady stream of stellar creativity. And you might think – what with the worldwide break in the action over the past year – she’d have slowed down a smidge, but if anything she’s upped her game. Especially when it comes to her just-released single “Wise Woman” – complete with another marvellous music video and a star-studded Virtual WISE WOMAN Concert event too. So we’ll talk about this spectacular song and so much more – including her plans to reunite with her Sound of Pop peers for another songwriting retreat, the go-to role her brother plays in her career, and the special reason for the song she sang with her mama on her Malbec Concert Series. Plus we’ll get to First Things First, play a great round of More or Less, and of course spin as much of her music as we can squeeze in within the hour. So with all that ahead we best get to it. Here’s my conversation with the one and only Mallory Johnson.
